Re: Central midfield targets
Grumpster maybe you are right to think there should be a bigger spend but it just isn't going to happen in this window.

For the following reasons.

The real good players will want a better move than to a team in a relegation battle.

Moyes is only on a short term contract

Our owners are who they are

I'll be well chuffed if we gain Shelvey's services - he's got all the makings of a West Ham legend.

I always used to choose, on the basis that I'd ge a frying pan at least over the head if I touched one.

Excellent arrangement. Happy mariage, and I didn't have to look at a munter in the morning.

Trundle, the mrs chose the nanny, on that basis no link needed or wanted. Trust me.

It was Ex-WHUemployee that said the deal was all but done and only waiting for Newcastle to sign a replacement.

Re: Central midfield targets
Shelvey would be good as second midfield signing.

English and West Ham is always good, so far Moyes has looked good with Arnautovic-like (ie tempermental) player, possible real upside for that price.

But if we are looking to do better than avoid relegation the first one needs to be much better.

Link to the nanny?

Jim79 5:28 Tue Jan 9
Re: Central midfield targets
I mentioned it on the transfers thread but our nanny is step sister to Jonjo and has said that there is legs in this and discussions are at an advanced stage. The family all want him to come to us and he is hopeful the deal will be done but we all know that until the contract is signed loads can change/go wrong.

Head about that; the twatter person said the Chronicle statement wasn't true.

This is why I refuse to discuss transfers with my son until the bloke is holding up a shirt. No idea what's true or false.

Jinxed knows a thing or two about that.

I'm a bit surprised we aren't in for Oriol Romeu.........not that they would sell to us or he'd want to come.

Someone on twatter said we've bought Shelvey for 12m; waiting for them to find a replacement.

In his debut game for Newcastle (against us) he ran the game and we lost (again).

I’d take Shelvey in a heart beat. Good player, and a Hammer.

I'd be happy with Shelvy too. A west Ham supporter, great range of passing and a bit of a nutter.

I don't know why we're linked with a load of six or seven million pound players though. We've got a sixty thousand seater stadium to try to entertain.

Elneny is a good player, would be happy with him

Re: Central midfield targets
Would hope we could go for better but I would definitely take Shelvey or Allen, you only have to look at the West Brom game and the difference Noble made when he came on, someone who can actually put his foot on the ball and find a player wearing the same shirt.

On a note though I work with Jo Allen's brother and he seems to think he wouldn't want to move to London because he would struggle to find somewhere for all his animals (sheep, Chickens, Pigs even fucking meerkat)

Re: Central midfield targets
I would take Nzonzi. Not sure about Arter, I think he is a player but we need a bit of steel. I think Shelvey is exactly what we need. I know he is not popular on here but looking at some of the powder puff performances I would love to see someone like him getting stuck in and giving us a bit of bollox. Allen is a player but again not what we need right now. No to the others, fed up with Arsenal bit part players taking huge wages and delivering nothing. Carvalho would be here now if all parties including him wanted it that much so a no from me.
